Undoubtedly, appearance of Islam in spite of the existence of many tenets and religions in the human society had confronted with such beliefs and religions.
However, it was imagined at first that people of the book who favored a divine origin -though distortions and innovations had distanced them from the reality- and also several glad tidings of the Old Testament and the Gospel for the coming prophet, wanted to accept Islamic doctrine sooner than other groups. But by investigating the events of the Prophet’s era, it is observed that such a claim is in contrast with these events.
In this article, without considering the political and military conflicts that took place several times, we will pay to the religious confrontation and Islamic belief and people of the book in the Prophet’s time and through explaining people of books’ reaction concerning the prophet ,we will mention the reason for this viewpoint. We also consider the prophet’s mutual reaction to them. The Jews’ strategies for challenging the prophet and Muslims in internal organizing and having unity in confrontations and instilling doubt between Muslims are also studied.
