Elucidating the Qur'anic Principles of National Unity and Islamic Solidarity

Abstract

National unity and Islamic solidarity are among the important political concepts which contain strategic criteria in managing a political system. Some of these criteria are supported by the Qur'anic doctrines. The writer has searched these criteria in the Holy Qur'an. 
The Qur'anic criteria of national unity are: 1) protecting human dignity 2) justice 3) creating affection and annihilating hostility.
The criteria of Islamic solidarity are 1) monotheism 2) judgment in conflicts 3) fortifying common beliefs of Muslim community 4) extending the Islamic brotherhood and institutionalizing the laws of Islamic brotherhood 5) mutual language of national unity.
National unity and solidarity without using these criteria would not materialize in the society, so, the humanistic respect is one of the absolute values which all the members of the society would possess with respect to their equality. The exigency of human esteem and Islamic mission is that the Islamic government and nation should annihilate the root of hostility. They should also extend affection in the Islamic society so that this affection may cause the frustrations be removed and changed to success. If the Islamic solidarity is to be fulfilled, the fundamental Qur'anic criterion should direct the Islamic countries movement. In this article, principles of the Qur'anic national unity and Islamic solidarity and their criteria are investigated.
