The rule “Generality of proofing the reasoning” is among the famous and very important jurisprudential rules that has plenty of proving effects in most of jurisprudential discussions, especially in the discussions in judgment. The author of this article, after examining the Qur’anic and traditional reasons in Shiite and Sunnite books and stating its terms of conditions, discusses its generality, and then proceeds to examine the relationship of the rule with the other rules and the conflict between two approaches to reasoning. At the end, he notifies the legal and jurisprudential exceptions of the rule, and compares the discussion and application of this rule in Shiite and Sunnite jurisprudence.
